Club News
Will great news come soon…? Let’s hope so!
Well, lockdown continues to drag along, but it seems like there might at last be a path out! That’s great news for everyone; let’s hope that we can all be back at Cranmore Lane very soon.
It’s sad that we can’t all be on the pitch at the moment – we know how big a part of your weekends it is as players and spectators, and it’s hard to replicate that Saturday buzz. We will all be back together soon, though, so in the meantime: stay fit, stay focused and look after your mums and dads over half term!
UPDATE – impact of current lockdown
Well, it was the announcement we were all dreading but the one we were probably expecting.
With the announcement of a full national lockdown, we at Avonvale Utd will obviously be unable to play or train until the national situation improves and the government and FA guidelines change.
However, we hope that your football journey can continue through lockdown! If it’s watching your favourite teams, checking out some of the amazing skills on display on Tiktok and Instagram, or having a kick around in the garden, let us know how you’re keeping the red and black flag flying!
As in the previous lockdown, we will be running a competition and awarding prizes to the player who scores the best goal in the garden, or who masters a tricky skill. Just send a video clip to your coach, and we will upload them to our Facebook page. If you need a bit of inspiration, or want to practice some new skills, there are some absolute gems in the following video:

Here’s hoping that we return to Shipton Moyne soon: fitter, faster and brimming with new skills and ideas.

Grassroots Football suspended
Good evening everyone.
Well, we staved off the inevitable for the last few weeks, but today the FA has announced that all grassroots football is suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
This is for “the foreseeable future”, however we will stay in touch via Facebook, the website and via texts from your coach with updates as we have them.
It’s sad news, but was perhaps it was only a matter of time. Many thanks for your support thus far in the season, stay safe and we hope to see you very soon.

Coronavirus Update
At Avonvale Utd FC we are in constant contact with the GFA whose advise currently is that for our level of football it is business as usual. This could change at any point in time and we will therefore do our best to keep you all updated. Obviously we would ask that if anyone is feeling unwell or showing any symptoms of the virus they withdraw from all footballing activities be that playing or spectating.
NOTE – the Vale Cafe will be closed this weekend.
We will be contacting our oppositions today to ensure they are also comfortable to continue with fixtures this weekend.
